A Media Room with Charm

We were asked to create a media room that offered charm and warmth to a stylish apartment. The room needed to be comfortable and inviting to sit in to read a book or to watch a movie. We went with a new age veneer finished with a clear finish. The panels were installed as to not show any fixings and we worked with two coloured paneling to create space for the artwork in amongst the media hardware. The final product produced the effect of a media room with contemporary yet classic style.

Experience and meticulous craftsmanship combined to give an exceptional result for the wall and ceiling paneling. An added bonus was the efficient and smooth, hassle-free installation of the work. Highly recommended.

We were asked to make bedside tables with a classic ultra modern look. The drawer blends in with the base, making it look like one unit and the grain flows around all sides of the drawer. The legs are made from solid oak and stained to keep the grain but give it a darker colour. The drawers slide in and out with a slight touch. The bedsides are solid, classic and timeless.

A desk to remember

A couple were holidaying in Tasmania when they fell in love with this piece of Huon Pine. The colour, the grain, everything in the timber gave them a feeling they couldn’t walk away from. They decided to bring it back to Brisbane and have it made into a functional furniture piece they could continue to admire in their home.

Finer Finishers were able to transform their treasure into a unique piece that highlights the colour and grain, while remaining functional, unique and stylish.

Matthew suggested contrasting a darker timber against the Huon pine to highlight the natural colours in the pine and this works wonderfully. Using a cross leg design in French Walnut added contrast and timber inlays were also incorporated along the sides to a solid Walnut back. This leads the eye around the piece and back to the solid timber handles at the front. Each drawer is made from French Oak and are mitre joined to the top, making it look like it is made from one solid section.

The owners said they wanted something they could hand down through the family to keep their love of the timber alive, and Matthew had this in mind when designing the desk. The owners are over the moon with their find from Tasmania now being a desk that can be treasured forever.

Bespoke Card Table – A dream come true

A card players dream table made to seat up to six people, each with their own drawer. The drawers were designed to be invisible when not in use and have inlay from Birds Eye Maple with Flame Mahogany and are felt lined.

The chairs have an ergonomically designed curve that make them comfortable enough to sit in for hours, and the legs are a fluted design.

Matthew and the client worked on the design together, as the client wanted a little bit of himself in the piece so it can be passed onto his children and grandchildren.

The top of the table is made up from book-matched Flame Mahogany , the centre piece is Birds Eye Maple , and the edge detail is Solid Mahogany. The chairs are also made from solid Mahogany.

The client spends many hours at this table happily playing cards on a table he has proudly helped design and watched grow from a dream into a reality.

Our client was looking to create room dividers and our curved wall units separate the room while providing storage.  We created high gloss finished units to add to the look and feel of the offices on the 26th floor of One One One Eagle St. These curved wall units stand 2700 x 1200 and with the glass shelves disappearing into the sides of the unit as the sides taper back onto itself. A flowing wrapped look was created, adding usable space adding to the style the office space.

TV unit with display

This unit is made to fit the room, with the owner needed special requirements for the speakers and sound equipment. The brief was to keep it in style of the house but make it look timeless which we achieved with the use of mixed timber and stain colours – the detail on the shelves gives a nice modern look.

The mix of timber includes French walnut and stained black oak (that retained the visible grain). The insides of the cupboards are also finished in French walnut and the moulding is hand-made and flows from the top section to the floor. Continue reading ‘TV & Wall Unit in Kangaroo Point’ »
